The book is good but the translation isnt!

I really appreciate the detail of the book. It's one of the few books on BI that I have read with such thorough explanations. HOWEVER, the translation from German is extremely poor!!! I can speak German and could see that at places the text has been translated literally: with the verbs at the end of the sentence, which is typical for German. Very disappointing and also very annoying! At places you need to know prior knowledge of the subject to grasp the meaning, it's that bad! Recommend it only to people who already know BI pretty well. If it wasn't for the translation, I would give it 4.5 stars(although not technically possible), as Authorizations/Security and Data Mining part/APD are totally missing, as well as most of Reporting (for which i highly recommend Peter Jones' SAP Business Information Warehouse Reporting). For those going for SAP certification: this book, Jones' and help.sap.com for Security and APD is more than enough (that is if you dont have certification materials, which arent that good anyway). Hope that helps!

Best book for Backend (Data Staging and Modelling)

This book is exclusively about the SAP BW backend, i.e. no reporting. As another reviewer has already stated Peter Jones' book is the best for the front end.
This book covers all the important topics regarding data modelling, staging, including quite a lot about improving the performance. The amount of useful detail is impressive. It is very practical, i.e. solution oriented. You can often use the explainations to solve your immediate problems. It is true that the English translation has been conducted poorly. But after having read some other books (Eggert) I think 5 stars are well deserved.

A very human love story

People who follow Meyerhofer's writing have come to expect it to be authentic, insightful and urbane. They may not have previously expected blue aliens - but happily, some things translate, and this romp of a book is him at his best. This is a love story - on its face, a sexy, irreverent, unbelievably bizarre love story about a blue alien with Asian features and the ability to teleport who falls in love with a Jewish therapist in Battery Park City. Look past the alien skin and it's a very human story; Meyerhofer writes sensitively and lovingly about some of the best and hardest things about human experience, from the fallibility of our heroes (and therapists) to the pains and joys of family life. It's laugh-out-loud funny (the book is worth buying for the first few pages alone), smart, and intensely enjoyable.

While this obviously isn't a book that takes itself too seriously, there's a lot to treasure in its ideas. Everyone struggles, people who are otherwise completely foreign to each other have more in common than not, and there's hope of a full, loving life even for the grumpiest and most self-critical of us. In short, this was better than a book about a gay blue alien had any right to be. Buy it.

Chosen by another life form

This narrative is a positive approach to the probability of life outside our universe with lots of humor in the situations during the dating period. Although the tale demands some suspension of disbelief the author is able to entice the reader into staying with the narrative until it totally absorbs the reader who no longer questions. One finds oneself so caught up in the plot which has become the reader's story as well that shear joy in the possibilities take over.

What a fine piece of literary indulgence this is! Bless Will Meyerhofer for not taking himself too seriously, and in turn making us all feel a little less alone in our bizarre thoughts and indulgences. This book is a comical delight, while at the same time an endearing look at the ubiquitous nature of love and our desire to be accepted.

High ratings fooled me.

Not worth it. With the recent changes from the Jan 2016 PMP exam update, you really need to know the ITTO's which are incomplete on this pamphlet. Also, the focus of the exam has recently changed on specific processes that aren't covered in depth on this guide. Make your own flash cards.

Pretty funny how one of the major sections of the PMP is Quality Control and the three things that Andy Crowe puts out (Quick Reference Guide, flash cards, and How to Pass on your First Try) are completely different with their information. For example, the book lists all inputs, tools and techniques. The Quick Reference Guide lists less; and the flashcards lack 90% of total inputs, tools, and techniques. Rather than list all of them, in many cases it says none. Normally having three resources would be advantages. However, using these inconjunction will only lead you to confusion, and likely failure the first few times you take the exam.

I really wanted this to be a helpful quick reference not it contains inaccurate information. For example, it shows only 2 inputs to the Develop Project Charter process but there at actually 5. I can't trust it so I returned it.

It Makes Much More Sense Now!

If you are a believer in the bible as the literal word of God, then you will not enjoy this book. If, like me, you have always wondered what really happened then this is the book for you. Using the bible itself and all the outside information available (in 1956) it puts the stories in chronological order, explains the symbolism, and explains the context in which these stories were told. For example, it appears that Moses never got near the Red Sea outside of the movies. The route of the Exodus simply doesn't go there. Nevertheless, every story comes from somewhere, and this book explains how that story got started.

I come away from this read with a much better understanding of the Old Testament and many of its stories. What was the draw of Baal and why was Elijah outnumbered 400 to 1 at the big showdown? How did Israel evolve from a tribe to a nation? All this and more is explained clearly and readably in a book that isn't much longer than the bible itself.

I think of this book as more of a historical reference than a religious one. For that reason, it is a good book regardless of whether you are Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, of Buddhist.
